Rawang, January 19: Perodua celebrated the graduation of 32 Perodua Youth Training Programme trainees here today.
The PYTP programme, which was first started in 1999, is one of Perodua’s main Corporate Responsibility pillars and is dedicated towards education as well as training of Malaysia’s youth.
Over the 13th year since its inception, Perodua has allocated an estimated RM4 million on this programme, or about RM300,000 per annum, with the objective of contributing towards the nation’s human capital development; particularly for the automotive industry.
“We are very happy with the commitment and earnest support extended by all parties in ensuring this programme to be a resounding success, year after year and over these past 13 years.
“Perodua is pleased to continue with a worthy corporate responsibility programme for the youth of our country,” Perodua Managing Director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said at the graduation ceremony here today.
The 32 graduands who completed the programme received the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia 1 (SKM 1) certification recognised by the Ministry of Human Resource.
Over the years, over 430 youngsters have benefitted from this programme. PYTP recruits Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers who are more inclined towards practical training rather than academic studies.
Annually, an average of RM300,000 is allocated for the programme and amongst the courses being offered include Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Automotive Paint Sprayer to Automotive Engine Installer.
The six-month programme syllabus is a good mix of 30% theory and 70% practical where trainees undergo dedicated training sessions conducted by a specialised team who are experts in their own respective fields.
“This yearly programme extends further education, in-depth training and choice job opportunities to aspiring candidates who enter the workforce with skills and knowledge that are highly sought-after,” Aminar said.
The programme is conducted at the Perodua Learning Centre, a facility centre developed in 2008 to further promote the development of training for the corporation’s own staff and business partners nationwide.
Perodua also provides monthly allowance for food to ease the financial burden of the students throughout the programme; in fact, facilities and other benefits such as accommodation, transportation, medical and uniforms are also taken care of.
